Me, my first computer and other prosperities

Hello and welcome to my humble lair of thoughts ! My name is Asyraf and this my educational blog... So yeaahh let's get started. I am 20 y/o and the eldest son of Fauziah Hashim and Shuib Ahmad. I am currently doing my Bachelor Degree in Education TESL. I have two siblings (a sister and brother) I am from Kedah and residing in Selangor (sometimes Johor) because my family is sort of dispersed everywhere on the map ! Lots of movings involved. I love photography, I am a passionate speaker (I do debating and public speaking), I love language, words play (especially when it concerns the English language) and as you can see some of my poems are posted here. I dream of becoming a lecturer, a part time writer, a photographer and a traveller (yes I'm a bit greedy when it comes to career experience because I'm a go getter so I basically grow up with the 'carpe diem' principle) LOL. My birthday is on the 21st October 93. I'm a workaholic, preoccupied with my own thoughts, a neat-freak, extremely paranoid when it comes to workloads, and I get really stressed out when things are distorted from what has been planned but either way I'm good because failing is a part of learning they say...

Apart from photography, I also doodle sometimes, it's like a mind therapy for me because I'm a student and Good Lord I need a break from all the sweats and pain ! And I find these two things very helpful. Rather than throwing tantrums in verbal forms, I think ingraining your emotions into a picture is way better because not everyone depict visual arts very well.

So my first experience with a computer ? I remember my dad bought our first PC when I was 6. Back then there was no internet in the house because it wasn't that commercialized I think. So what I did was, I used this educational simulation type of game software my mom bought for us, my first introductory to English was through this software it was very interactive and I believe my mom didn't know it could bring me this far that her son now is an English major (thanks Mak!).  My first internet experience is when I was 14 y/o, that's when all the more advanced softwares started to nudge into my life; it all began with Yahoo Messenger ! Friendster, Myspace, Blogger, Facebook and then Twitter and now Instagram and God knows what will come up next with the future generation ! Mercy upon us !

Finally it's my TESL experience, I have been a TESL student since 2010, took my baby-steps in a UiTM TESL Foundation Program for 1 year and now pursuing my degree in UPM, it has been almost 3 years now give it or take. Honestly, TESL experience has been really amazing, I couldn't ask for more and I'm really glad I took the road less travelled by my typical-kyasu-asian friends back in school (so I can say that I rebelled from the system). At first, I did think of picking up something like Law, Science and all other daunting jobs out there. To me, teaching is indeed a very colourful, vibrant and sophisticated job. It's more than just a profession, it's life, a simple analogy as the world itself is a factory of producing humans and teachers are there to facilitate growth and ensure that the end product of human kind is absolutely contributive as well as holistic in a manner of view. There's no regret in choosing this path, when I first came to UPM it got even more interesting having people of such wise age, with a PhD in their hands, some are very young and yet enthusiastic in assisting nation-building. They really inspire me to the max, and one day I dream of becoming someone who's just like them.

Now let me introduce you to my classmates, just a snippet of their pictures I took with my cam:

  1. Hi Asyraf,

It is good to know that you always keep yourself busy with a lot of things. It is also very refreshing to read your poems--they are very well written, and very thoughtful. Keep writing them, ok!

I am glad that you chose to be an English teacher, even though it means going against the mainstream (or what your friends are doing). Teaching is indeed a rewarding profession and almost always being looked down at. It takes a good person to see what teaching truly is.

I like with what you have done with the blog site (i.e., music and pictures). Also, thank you for posting your friends' pictures!
